In an unprecedented initiative to give newcomers the chance to give opera a go, OperaQ released over 2,000 $25 tickets to La traviata. These tickets sold out in a matter of days and, at the conclusion of the season, the Company was thrilled to have welcomed over 1,000 newcomers to opera.

Opera Queensland brings Verdi’s La traviata to QPAC from 7  May 2015 for four performances only! This exciting new production takes audiences on an emotional rollercoaster as love explodes, but inevitably shatters, in one of the most heartbreaking love stories ever told.

New comers to opera will recognise La traviata’s tragic plot from Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge painting a vivid portrait of high society Paris complete with crystal chandeliers, couture costumes and champagne-fuelled parties.

With the combined forces of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and the Opera Queensland Chorus and boasting some of opera’s most adored arias, La traviata, is this season’s classic opera highlight.

To coax new audiences, we are offering 2,000 La traviata tickets at $25* each! These seats are available in Balcony Two for all four performances of La traviata.
